These terms govern your purchase and use of digital products sold through truthbehindbars.com. By buying or downloading anything from this site, you agree to them.
Who you are buying from
Truth Behind Bars is an independent publisher of documentary and true crime digital products, operated from Pakistan and selling to customers worldwide.
Payments are handled by Paddle. Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every order placed on this site. That means Paddle sells the product to you, processes your payment, handles any applicable sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt. Your card details are entered into Paddle's checkout and are never seen or stored by us.
What you are buying
Digital products delivered as downloadable files, most commonly PDF ebooks. Products are described on the page where they are sold, including page count and format. Nothing physical is shipped.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Depending on where you are, tax may be added at checkout or included in the displayed price. Paddle determines and collects this.
Delivery
Your download is made available immediately after payment, on the confirmation page. A download link is also sent to the email address you provide at checkout, and that link remains valid for 30 days.
If your download fails, the link expires, or the email does not arrive, contact hello@truthbehindbars.com and we will send the file to you directly.
What you may do with what you buy
When you buy a product, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it. You may:
- Read it on any device you own
- Print a copy for your own use
- Keep it indefinitely
You may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise distribute it
- Upload it to file-sharing sites or public repositories
- Reproduce substantial parts of it in your own published work without permission
- Remove or alter any attribution or copyright notice
Short quotations for review, commentary, teaching or research are fine, with attribution.
Intellectual property
All content remains the property of Truth Behind Bars. Historical facts are not owned by anyone, but the writing, structure, analysis, graphics and design of these products are original work and are protected by copyright.
Accuracy
Our products are researched against court records, public inquiry reports, government publications and contemporaneous reporting, and we take accuracy seriously. Where sources disagree, we say so in the text rather than picking whichever figure sounds better.
That said, these are works of documentary writing, not legal, professional or academic advice. Historical records are sometimes incomplete or contested. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it in a later edition.
Refunds
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to a product is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing here removes any statutory rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Availability
We aim to keep the site and downloads available at all times, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. If a technical problem prevents you receiving something you paid for, we will fix it or refund you.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here at the time of your purchase, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. This does not affect consumer protection rights you hold in your own country.
